How to Establish a Dreamweaver Website on Localhost – EasyPhp

[ads1]

While developing a website, it is sometimes quite annoying and repetitive to edit the code in the editor and then test it on the browser, especially when working with WordPress. So, to ensure smooth workflow and faster development, we use a feature called custom “Dreamweaver Site.” This enables to create a dynamic website which can be easily edited and viewed “live”  in the software, and runs on a  “local WAMP server.”

I’m using EasyPhp for this tutorial.[divider]

Step 1

You can go to the Dreamweaver Site option by either clicking on Site > New Site from the top menu or if you’re on the homescreen(like I am) you can simply click on Dreamweaver Site.

This part is simple. If you just want to put up a static HTML site, then type in the two fields, specifying the root directory of your website and your website’s name and click save. However, if you want to establish a dynamic website, move on to the next step.

This is the important part. Click on the servers option on the left panel and add a new server. Then choose a name for your server and make sure to change the connect using option to “Local/Network”.

You’ll notice a slight change in the options. Now just specify your sever folder that is your “EasyPhp/www” folder . Also add your website URL that will be like “http://localhost/yourwebsitename.”

Now go to the advanced settings in the server options and select PHP MySQL  as the server model.

This is again, a very important step, missing out on this one may will not let it work. By default, you’ll see the remote option checked, this is because Dreamweaver considers the first server set as a remote server. You need to change this to the Testing option.

Click on the save option and you will find the site cache updating. This may take a few seconds.

This is all! You’ll see the directory files on the right panel. You can edit, upload and change the contents through this. Live View will enable you to test your dynamic website directly in Dreamweaver. This works best for WordPress Development!

Yay! and it's done!
